Yes, I spent my early years growing up in the African bush... well sort of. My father got a job in Chipata, Zambia and we moved there when I was 2 years old. For being a small town in the middle of nowhere, there were many Indian expat families around. One that our family got close to were the Vadada's, who we're still in touch with after all these years and I consider them my guardians here in the states.
Me, my dad and my sister, Lavi at Malawi Lake in Malawi
My family and the Vadada's: me, mom, sis, Padmini Aunty, Kiran, Deepak and Suresh Uncle
Since us kids were relatively the same age, we all became good friends and it helped that Deepak and me shared the same birthday.
Arranged in height and age order in the garden of our compound
Getting our feet wet for the first time in Malawi Lake
Me and my sis at sunrise on Lake Malawi, Dad was quite the photographer

Very artsy shot of my sis and me, I love this picture
Quite the hunk, huh....
